For those who are fans of the cat-eye look especially, you only wanna go about halfway.Īgain, if you have heavy monolids like me, your inner eye point is likely buried into your flesh, and even with tape you just can’t really see or get to it. I find it’s best to go only about halfway across the bottom rim of your eyes, because again, if you use too much under your eyes, it actually makes your eyes look smaller in the end. I know we’re going for drama here, but heavy under-liner actually serves to make your eye look smaller, so we’re gonna go with a softer touch under the eye. When applying under-liner, I find it’s better to use a dark brown, not black, and to use pencil instead of liquid. Once it’s filled in, it looks like a LOT of fucking eyeliner when your eyes are half-lidded.īut when you open up your eyes, it’s actually not that excessive. Because the top of the arch gets folded under anyway, I usually go to the top rim of the tape, then create my wingtip flaring out from there. They usually come in beige tones so that they blend in with your skin, though I’ve seen some that come in black since they assume you’ll lather on eyeliner above it anyway. I’ve outlined it so you can see where I placed it. Like I said, it’s only a small difference, but hey, eyeliner makes only a small difference just by itself too. You can see it on the left, and what’ my eye is like without it on the right. I’m not trying to achieve folded epicanthal eye shape-I’m just getting a little extra enlargement. I have rather heavy monolids myself, so I find the glues are 0% effective, and the tape doesn’t do all that much to create a visible fold, but they do help a little with enlargement, and so I use them for that. For those who don’t know, the purpose of them is to help create an artificial fold in your eyelid, which also helps to enlarge it. Many of us with monolids already know about eyelid tapes and glues. ((made-up eye on the left, make-up-free eye on the right)) Many of us apply our eyeliner like we think we should-if you have heavy monolids like me, you probably hold your lid up to draw on that liner-perfecting the wingtip flare even…īut as soon as you release your eyelid, you can’t even see it minus the little bit on the end.Īnd this is kind of how it goes. If you wear contacts or circle lenses, they go in first before anything else!!! I’m not wearing them in this tutorial though. Stila pencil liner (colors 2 and 4 shown above) I use just a light filter in editing these photos just because I didn’t apply any other makeup to my face, but since we’re not talking about contouring or color blocking, there’s little difference. This is the eye makeup I use for cosplay, which focuses on drama, a little bit of enlargement for the moe effect, but it can be used for everyday makeup too if you just skip a few steps. You run out of eyeliner 5x faster, all the makeup tutorials out there for natural epicanthal folds give ZERO regard to the different shape of your beautiful eyes, and if you’re younger and just starting to learn how to use makeup, it can feel like nothing is working the way it should. The lovely babes out there with heavy monolidded eyes know the struggle.
